Mahanakhon SkyWalk is one of the places that shows the image of modern Bangkok most clearly.

From the top, visitors can see skyscrapers, expressways, the Chao Phraya River, old neighborhoods, temples, business districts, and the endless movement of the city all in one panoramic view.

A Modern Symbol of Bangkok

The observation deck is located inside King Power Mahanakhon in the Sathorn area.

When it opened, the building became the tallest building in Thailand and immediately stood out because of its unique pixel-inspired ribbon design wrapping around the tower.

Designed by architect Ole Scheeren, the tower quickly became one of Bangkok’s most recognizable skyline icons because it looked dramatically different from traditional skyscrapers.

Seeing Bangkok from Above

What makes Mahanakhon SkyWalk especially interesting is not only the height, but the contrast visible across the city.

From above, visitors can simultaneously see old Bangkok temples, dense local communities, modern business towers, riverside areas, and large transportation networks.

For many travelers, the experience changes the image of Bangkok from being only about temples and street food into a massive modern metropolis full of energy and complexity.

The Famous Glass Tray

The most famous attraction at Mahanakhon SkyWalk is the Glass Tray on the rooftop level.

Visitors can stand directly on a transparent glass floor hundreds of meters above the city.

For many people, the most memorable part is not simply the beautiful view, but the feeling of looking straight down beneath their feet with almost nothing blocking the view.

Glass Tray Experience

The rooftop glass floor became one of Bangkok’s most photographed attractions.

Sunset Atmosphere

Golden hour and city lights create the most popular viewing experience.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit is around one hour before sunset.

This allows visitors to experience daytime views, golden hour, sunset colors, and Bangkok’s nighttime skyline during a single visit.

For many visitors, Mahanakhon SkyWalk becomes the place where they fully realize how large and modern Bangkok really is.

Things to Know Before Going

Visitors entering the Glass Tray area must wear protective shoe covers before stepping onto the glass floor.

The rooftop becomes especially crowded during sunset and holidays.

Mahanakhon SkyWalk is directly connected to BTS Chong Nonsi station, making it one of the easiest rooftop attractions to reach in Bangkok.

Driving during evening rush hour is generally not recommended because traffic in the Sathorn and Silom areas can become extremely heavy.
