Erawan Shrine is one of the most famous spiritual landmarks in Bangkok and one of the clearest examples of how faith remains deeply connected to everyday city life in Thailand.

Located in the middle of the busy Ratchaprasong district, the shrine sits among luxury hotels, shopping malls, offices, and heavy traffic, yet people continue to stop here throughout the day to pray and make offerings.

About the Shrine

The shrine was built during the 1950s while the original Erawan Hotel was under construction. According to local belief, the Brahma shrine was created to bring good fortune and spiritual protection to the area.

Over time, Erawan Shrine became one of the most visited spiritual sites in Bangkok.

Faith and City Life

The four-faced Brahma statue inside the shrine is believed to represent protection, success, health, and prosperity.

Business owners, office workers, tourists, and local residents all visit the shrine for blessings before meetings, travel, or important life events.

Even in one of Bangkok's busiest shopping districts, the sound of prayers, incense smoke, and Thai classical dance performances never completely disappears.

Thai Dance Performances

Traditional dance offerings are performed throughout the day.

Ratchaprasong Atmosphere

A unique mix of modern Bangkok and traditional beliefs.

One of the shrine's most recognizable traditions is the Thai dance performance offered by worshippers after prayers are answered.

The contrast between traditional performances and the surrounding skyscrapers makes the shrine one of the most unique cultural spaces in central Bangkok.

Visitor Information

Erawan Shrine is directly connected to the BTS Chit Lom skywalk and is within walking distance of CentralWorld, Gaysorn, and other shopping centers.

The area becomes especially crowded during evenings, weekends, and holidays, but it remains one of the easiest spiritual landmarks to visit in central Bangkok.
